Jewelry Care

How to care for your jewelry:

All Vialette the Fifth jewelry is created from a combination of recycled precious metals that include fine silver, sterling silver, and Shibuichi.

Shibuichi is a Japanese alloy made of 75% copper and 25% fine silver. Because of my commitment to using recycled metals, and my experimental casting techniques - the copper and silver content will vary per piece.

All ear wires, chains, and ring bands are made from sterling silver; unless noted otherwise.

All orders will come with a free polishing cloth, pouch, and box to help you maintain the shine and eliminate tarnish.

It is normal for this type of metal to tarnish into a dark gray with traces of copper in contrast with brighter elements of silver over time.

Some tips to help keep your pieces looking brand new:

-Wearing your jewelry! The friction caused between your skin and the metal is the best way to help keep your piece shiny.

-Try to avoid swimming, bathing, or exposing your jewelry to harsh cleaning chemicals.

-Avoid contact with personal care products such as hair spray and perfumes. These can cause changes in the appearance of the metal, speeding up the oxidation process, and possibly change the appearance of any stones.

-When not wearing jewelry, keep it stored in the original packaging or someplace where it’s not being exposed to air. As much as I avoid plastic, small plastic jewelry bags are a great way to keep the piece airtight.

-If oxidation does occur, gentle rubbing with the polishing cloth can get the piece looking good as new.

-Gentle soap and water, or rubbing alcohol works great at removing stubborn makeup.

-Because I use pearls, soft stones, and opaque stones - I do not recommend using any submersion jewelry cleaners or ultrasonics which can permanently damage the stone. You will want to avoid cleaning your Vialette the Fifth jewelry with abrasive or ammonia-based cleansers.
